02. Adam Short

FEI Eventing WORLD NUMBER ONE ☝🏼 

JL Dublin was phenomenal this weekend in Paris, to help win Eventing Team Gold alongside team mates Laura Collett on London 52, Ros Canter on Lordships Graffalo and Yasmin Ingham on Banzai du Loir.

Tom and Dubs finished the dressage on day 1 with a score of 25.8, which left them just outside the top ten. 

A fantastic clear cross country round moved them into 6th place ahead of the final day's showjumping.

A classy clear round in the showjumping moved them up to finish in 4th place individually, helping secure Team Gold.

Olympic Eventing Team Gold in Paris!

All the hard work and preparation has paid off for the team here, with the announcement today that we are off to Paris!

Tom and JL Dublin announced as part of the Paris Olympics Squad

I’m immensely proud of Dubs this week. 
It might not have been the ending we hoped for but still an incredible result. He’s one hell of a special horse. 

Dubs performed an incredible dressage test on Friday to finish on a score of 24.6 and backed that up with a clear cross country round on Saturday, with just 4 time faults, but still remaining in the lead.

An unfortunate pole in the showjumping moved us to 2nd place overall.

A huge thank you to Adam Short for all the care you give Dubs, not just at the events but at home too. 🙌🏽

Thank you to everyone’s messages of support, it’s hugely appreciated.


2nd place for JL Dublin at Defender Kentucky 5*

There is so much still to come from this special horse and I strongly believe his day will come to win a big 5* 
I’m so pleased with his performance all week and to finish on the podium is fantastic. 
I’m so thrilled for Dubs' owners Deirdre Johnston and Jo & James Lambert, for having 2 very exciting horses in the top 4 at a 5* - both beautifully produced by Nicola Wilson Equestrian
Adam Short - thank you for looking after Dubs so brilliantly not just at the show but all year round.

So that’s the end of the 2023 season. 
Time for the horses to have a holiday and for me to marry my biggest support & best friend Harriet Fettes !

A podium finish for JL Dublin and Tom at PAU 5*

We headed off to the Royal International Horse Show today, having received an invite to jump in
The Ashby Underwriting Eventers Challenge in the the Hickstead International Arena. 

MHS Brown Jack had a great round, with just a couple of unlucky faults, but it was a superb and very fun experience for us both.

Tom and JL Dublin had an incredible time at the Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event riding Nicola Wilson’s former ride JL Dublin, owned by Jo and James Lambert and Deirdre Johnston.

Their final score of 27.8  resulted in second place behind America’s Tamie Smith.

An amazing time and 2nd place in the Land Rover Kentucky 5* with JL Dublin

Our team have all had a good rest over the winter months, and we’ve had a chance to reflect on the 2022 season. Our fantastic team of horses notched up over 50 top 5 finishes, and that could not have been achieved without the incredible support from our team at home and our wonderful owners and sponsors.

There are plenty of highlights to choose from, but the Aachen Nations Cup win with Toledo, and Luna Mist taking the 4* win at Blair Castle really do stand out.

We’ve got an exciting season ahead of us, starting at Poplar Park in March .

We’re also really looking forward to getting a couple of new members to the stable out for their first runs.

As mentioned, this is truly a team effort, and thanks to my great team of staff, owners and sponsors, we are fit and ready to crack on with the year ahead.

Winter wrap up

We took 5 horses to Houghton International this weekend and all of them showed their incredible talent.

Bob Chaplin was a star in all three phases to take the win in the CCI-S O4*, also helping secure a win for the Nations Cup Team.

Luna Mist continued to impress in the CCI-L 3*, with a super score of 26.2 in the dressage, and then jumping a classy double clear to finish 3rd.

Falaise De Riverland was brilliantin the CCI-L 2* with a great double clear to finish on her dressage score of 28. There's lots to look forward to with this very talented 7 yr old. 

Dream Big and Braveheart B both had a rail showjumping, leaving them out of contention in the CCI-S O4*.


A great weekend at Houghton International

Tom has been recognised with an MBE in the New Years Honours List.

Alongside Laura Collett and Oliver Townend, the trio took Olympic gold in Tokyo for the first time since 1972 with a record-breaking low score and all riders and horses being Olympic debutantes. 

Tom and Toledo de Kerser, owned by Fred and Penny Barker, Jane Inns and Ali McEwen, were faultless in the two show jumping rounds to secure the team gold and individual silver medals.
